Ed was preceded in death by his first wife of 10 years, Teresa Mehl; parents, Ethel German [Simpson] and Jonathan German; half-sister, Etta; aunts, Helen Hoffman, Mildred Adams, Amelia German, Helen German, Doris German, and Beaulah German; uncles, Carroll Simpson, James Donald Simpson, Walter Simpson, Howard Simpson, Irving German, Edward German, Charles German, Howard German, and Warren German; and step-grandson, Jeremy Joseph Ferris.
Ed is survived by his wife of 43 years, Nancy [Zakrajsek] German; daughters, Christine German Ferris [German] (Richard) of Roanoke, VA, Karen Lynn Waldrop [German] (Keith) of Watkinsville, GA; and granddaughter, Emily Waldrop. He is also survived by brothers, John German (Nancy [Kane]) of Roxbury, CT/Stuart FL and Stephen Carroll German (Virginia "Ginny"[Singley]) of Boise, ID; nieces and nephews Janet Arnold, John German, Laura German, Keith German, Emily German and Stephanie German; half- nieces, Gloria and Susan; step- grandson, Jacob Ferris; cousins, Joy Kiser, Donna Lock, Charles Frederick, and Danny Hoffman; sisters in-law, Diane Z. Byers (Alan) and Janice Z. Casper (Michael); and brother-in-law, Fred D. Zakrajsek (Patty).
A Celebration of Life will be held at Ed's home on June 4, 2022 from 3 PM to 7 PM. Date and time of full military honors funeral and inurnment at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia will also be announced once scheduled.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ed's honor to the Cat Alliance of Naples, FL (https://donorbox.org/support-the-rescued-cats-and-kittens-of-the-naples-cat-alliance) or another no kill animal shelter in your community. It was a dream of Ed's to build a no kill animal shelter and hospital one day. Thank you.
