Professional Football Player. From 1962 until 1963, as an undrafted player, he started his career as a defensive lineman and linebacker in major league football with the St. Louis Cardinals. Then in 1964 he played in the Canadian Football League for the Montreal Alouettes in seasons 1964 and 1965 before playing for the Houston Oilers for seven seasons (1966 to 1972) and the Houston Texans for one season (1974). He also played one season at the end of his career with the Shreveport Steamer (1975) of the World Football League. He is the uncle of former Oiler teammate, and San Diego Chargers and Kansas City Chiefs defensive lineman Ernie Ladd. He made the All-American Football League team in 1968 and 1969. He played 120 games with 86 starts and had two career interceptions.
