After recovering from a car accident in 1977, Harvey fulfilled his passion for farming, driving tractor for his brother, Elwayne, and then for Bob and Pam Person, until he was 90 years old. His wife, Deloris, died on Aug. 16, 1999.

On March 19, 2004, Harvey married Berneta Plucker-Noglemeier at Germantown Presbyterian Church, Chancellor. The couple lived in Chancellor until moving to Turner Village in Parker. Berneta died on Dec. 25, 2020.
