Candy Carnes Adkins entered eternal life on July 14, 2021 at her home in Las Vegas, Nevada surrounded by her loving family. Candy was born Mary Candace in Columbus, Ohio on November 17, 1946 to Mary Eloise Clark Carnes and Ralph Frederick Carnes. She was raised in Delaware with her five siblings, graduated from Hayes High School in 1964 and graduated from Translyvania University with a teaching degree in 1968. She taught at Boardman School, then in South Africa. Upon returning to the USA, she began working at the Ohio State Auditor's Office. In 1994, she married Ernest Adkins, the love of her life, until his passing on March 7, 1999. In 2003, she retired from the State of Ohio and moved to Las Vegas, living around the corner from her brother Wayne. She is survived by her brother, Wayne Carnes and husband, Dale; sisters, Barbara Buzard and husband, Sam and Judi Anselmo; also a brother-in-law, Denny Adkins and his wife, Frances; sister-in-law, Paula Sue Bradfield and husband, Jim; and many beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Candy was preceded in death by two brothers Larry and Terry Carnes. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 11am, in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Delaware, with Tom Dea'therage, Celebrant, officiating.
