Mr. Reuben Maphis died at his home, five miles west of Woodstock with dropsy, last Sunday morning at five o'clock.
Mr. Maphis had been in declining health for the past year, and for the past four months has been compelled to keep to his bed.
He is the last of the Maphis family in the neighborhood in which he lived, the rest having died some years ago. The deceased connected himself with the German Baptist church a number of years ago and remaining in that faith until death.
Mr. Maphis was a good upright faithful citizen and always contented with his lot. The funeral services were conducted in the Union Church at St. Luke, Monday morning at 11 o'clock, Rev. R. W. Mowery and P. W. Wisman officiated.
The body was laid at rest in the St. Luke's Cemetery. he was 81 years, four months and twenty-six days old.
