He is the son of the late James A. Campbell and Della Mae [Snuffer] Campbell.
He died Tuesday, December 1, 1998 in a Beckley, West Virginia hospital following a long illness.
He was former co-owner of 3-C Coal Company. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II, serving from 1942 to 1945. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, the American Theater Service Ribbon and the World War II Victory Ribbon. He was a member of Channel 35 buyers club; member of Memorial Baptist Church; and a former member of the Mabscott Eagles.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Ethel Snuffer, Virginia Pennington Langford and Hazel Jarrett; three brothers, Basil, James and Weldon Campbell; his former wife, Isabelle [Kennedy] Campbell; and a son, Glen Campbell.
Survivors, his wife of 25 years, Blanche [Covey] Campbell; a son, Gary Campbell; a daughter, Sherri Harless; two step-daughters, Carol Jewell and Linda Allen; four grand-children; and three great-grand-children.
Funeral services at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 5, 1998 at Melton Mortuary Chapel, Beckley, with the Rev. Paul Blizzard officiating. Entombment in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity, West Virginia.
