She retired as a Baker for Country Oven. She loved going to Church on Saturday. She was a member of Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Mary Lee loved traveling the scenic routes, shopping, the beach and most of all being with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Austin and Margaret Bates, her brother, Ben Bates and her Cat, "Mr. Kitty".
She is survived by the love of her life, Rowan Cecil, her children, Gayle Ann Boston (Scott), Betsy Ann Russell (Fred), Robert Lee Smith (Jackie) and Mary Ann Smith, her step son, Robert Cecil (Joanne), her grandchildren, Christina, Michelle, Robert Lee, Jr., Allie, Scott Allen and Phoenix, her great grandchildren, Juliane, Mackenzie, Peyton, Tyler, Kirk, Kevin, Braydon, Eleanor, Forrest and River, her sister, Betsy Patterson and her brother, William Bates.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 28th, 2022 from 2-8pm at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd. Her Funeral Mass will be Friday April 29th at 10 am at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church, 657 St. John Church Rd, Elizabethtown, KY 42701 with burial to follow at Saint John the Baptist Church Cemetery.
