John Henry Gardiner passed away at the home of his son Bert, near Gresham, Nebr., Friday morning, April 24th, at the age of 90 years, after a short illness, the cause of death Uremic Coma. John Gardiner was born in County Clare, Ireland, December 24, 1835. He came to America when a small boy where he grew to manhood. At Morrison, Ill., he was a saddler by occupation in his younger days. He enlisted in the war but only served a short time on account of an injury caused by a horse falling on him.
On July 5, 1865, he was married to Bridget Fallon, who preceded him in death sixteen months ago. He leaves to mourn his four children who were all at his bedside when the end came. Mrs. Richard Conway, Seward; Will and Bert Gardiner of Gresham; and Geo. of David City. Fouteen grandchildren, seven great grand children, one sister-in-law, Mrs. James Fallen of Seward and other relatives.
Funeral services were held at the Catholic church at Utica, Nebr., by Father Hagen of Beaver Crossing, Sunday at 10:30 0'clock and he was laid to rest in the Utica cemetery beside his companion of 59 years.
