Joseph was an high ranking executive (Transportation Manager), in the early 1900's at the R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He was also a personal friend of the Reynolds family.
Joseph was the husband of renowned, watercolor artist Margaret G. (Nowell) Graham. They married on Feb. 11, 1896 in Reading, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.
Joseph was also the father of Katherine Howard, an official who served in the Dwight D. Eisenhower administration. His son, John Stephens Graham was an attorney and the Assistant Secretary of the Treasury during the Harry S. Truman administration. John also served as the 30th Commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service in 1952-53.
Joseph died on Nov. 3, 1931 in Manhattan, New York City, New York.
