Thomas G. Rutherford, age 76, of Manitowoc, died on Wednesday morning, Jan. 9, 2008, at Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers.

He was born on July 10, 1931, in Manitowoc, son of the late George and Dorothy (Breitzmann) Rutherford. Thomas was a graduate of Lincoln High School, Manitowoc, class of 1950. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Thomas was employed with Rutherford Heating as a steamfitter, and had various other jobs in maintenance until his retirement in 1993. He was a member of Plumbers and Steam Fitters Union. Thomas was also a Boy Scout leader and an assistant football coach at both Holy Innocents and Roncalli.

Survivors include five sons and four daughters-in-law: John and Lucy Rutherford, Manitowoc; Joe and Eve Rutherford, Manitowoc; Peter and Lynn Rutherford, Francis Creek; Paul and Tina Rutherford, Valders; and Pat Rutherford, Manitowoc; a daughter and son-in-law: Jennifer and Dean Seehafer, Manitowoc; nine grandchildren: Tara and Thomas Rutherford; Devin (Shawn) Bertschy; Teddi Jo; Dallas and Justice Rutherford; and Brady, Brennan and Cailin Seehafer; one great-granddaughter: Jasmine Bertschy; five step-grandchildren: Heather and Shane DeGrand; Mia (Andy) Johnson; Greg (Mickey) Shea; and Stacy (Blair) Shea-Van Hemelryk; eight step-great-grandchildren: Domnique, Hope, Zander, Quinn, Andy, Alex, Jessica and Loic; and the mother of his children: Nancy Rutherford. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by an infant son: Jerald Rutherford; and a brother: Jack Rutherford.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008, at The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be Deacon Ken Nelesen. Cremation will follow the service.

The family will greet relatives and friends at The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, from 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008, until the time of service at 11 a.m. Military Rites will be accorded by V.F.W. Otto Oas Post 659.

Thomas had a passion for woodworking. He was an avid Packer fan and enjoyed hunting. He will be sadly missed by family and friends.
