Hamilton A. (also known as H.A. or Hap) Chandler of Pearland, Texas passed away peacefully at his home Tuesday morning, April 26, 2022. Hap was born on May 1, 1930, in Lovelady to parents, Benjamin H. Chandler and Virgie Pyle Chandler. Growing up in the Houston Country area he attended local schools, was Senior Class President and graduated Valedictorian of Crockett High School in 1947. He attended Sam Houston State University, joined the Navy in 1950 and graduated from Naval Officer Flight School. Hap married Laura S. Griffiths in 1952, together they had two children. Based out of Southern California during most of his Navy career, Hap retired from the Navy in 1971 as a Lieutenant Commander. He enjoyed civilian life to include going to college and working in various businesses until 1980 when he and Laura moved back to Crockett to take care of his parents and work the small family farm until 1995. Laura preceded him in death in August 2001.

Always devoted to family, church and love of God, he married Glenda Hogan January 1, 2005. Together they resided in Crockett and in Friendswood, eventually moving to Pearland where they lived together until his passing.

Hap is survived by his wife of 17 years, Glenda Hogan Chandler; children, Bruce Chandler and wife, Bonnie of Madison, Alabama; Kathy Harris and husband, David of Mena, Arkansas; grandchildren, Nikaley Chandler, Eric and Leah Chandler, Daniel and Megan Harris, Benjamin Harris; great-grandchildren, James, David and Luke Chandler, Rhys Harris. Loved as and included as family are Glenda's children, Judy Henry-Smith, Jim and Laurie Ann Henry, Donny and Sandra Hogan and Donna Gayle Davis; grandchildren, Kristie and Mark Dixon with Austin Smith, and many other grand and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, B.H. and Virgie Pyle Chandler and first wife, Laura S. Chandler.

Burial services will be in the future at the Dallas National Cemetery in Arlington, Texas.
