Following a brief battle with cancer, Connie M. Wise passed away early Monday morning, March 25, 2022, with her three daughters by her side.

Connie leaves behind daughters, Trudy Nygren (Jim), Tammy Wise (Jeff Miller), and Janelle Graves (Todd); six grandchildren, Danielle Nygren (Nathan Jojo), Owen, Emily, and Ellie Miller, Sydney and Parker Graves; sister, Becky Mitchell; many cherished nieces, nephews, close friends; and her beloved dog and best buddy, Scruffy.

Connie was born on November 7, 1942, in Oroville, CA, and graduated from Yuba City High School. At age 19, she married the love of her life, John Wise, which began a love story lasting 51 years.

The love Connie shared with John was contagious and she spread it all around her. She is the mom everyone wished they had, and her home was always open and filled with kids, visitors, animals (much to her chagrin), and laughter.

Connie was an accomplished piano player and liked to fill the house with music, singing, and even her impressive jitterbug. She also loved fishing and would happily tell you all about the time she hooked a giant sturgeon.

Connie loved to love on people. She shared that through her creativity and prowess at the sewing machine and all things crafty, and through her joy of cooking for others. She often sewed her daughter's clothes, even a wedding dress and matching Easter dresses and bonnets, and made and mended countless stuffed animals and Halloween costumes over the years.

During holidays especially, she baked and shared hundreds of her home-made creations and hosted large family dinners, celebrations, barbeques, and a legendary bicentennial 4th of July party. That was a very special gift to those who knew her.

Cute and sweet are two words everyone universally uses to describe Connie. She was that, but also so much more. Tough as nails, Connie would spend all day on the riding lawn mower conquering acres of grass and then fixing the mower herself when it inevitably broke down.

Connie was fiercely competitive and certainly did her best to win any competition, be it tennis or a game of Words with Friends! She was also a talented artist who taught herself on a whim how to create beautiful paintings. And she did all of this while surrounded by laughter thanks to her great sense of humor and spunk.

Connie lived and loved to the fullest and this will be the legacy she leaves behind to friends and family.

Graveside service will be held at the Sutter Cemetery (Sixth St. entrance off Butte House Rd.) on Monday, May 2, 2022, at 2:00pm. Following the service, family and friends are invited to gather at the French Whisk, 1974 Acacia Ave., Sutter, to celebrate Connie's life.
