Jacob "Jake" Freeman Anderson left this life on February 5, 2024, in Edina, Minnesota.
Jacob Freeman Anderson was born January 12, 1930, in Gardar, North Dakota, to Johann and Sigurros (Freeman) Anderson. After high school Jake worked in farming and construction. He joined the Navy serving 1948 through 1952. Jake started working in the railroad industry in 1953. In his career of 40 years, Jake worked as an engineer, in train management, and with the Federal Railroad Administration. In 1953 Jake met the love of his life, Shirley Spencer, and they were joined in marriage. Their marriage was blessed with three sons.
After Jake's retirement, Jake and Shirley became snowbirds, with a winter home in Arizona and a summer lake place in northern Minnesota. Over the years they moved dozens of times, remodeling and improving, until it was time to move onto the next project. The family joke was that you only use pencil in the address book for Jake and Shirley. Jake lost his dear wife, Shirley in 2020.
He is survived by a brother, Henry E. Anderson (Dorothy) of Ramsey, MN; a sister, Rose Adele Sigurdson of Edinburg, ND; and his sons Michael Anderson (Katrina) of Boone, IA; Jeffrey Anderson (Monica) of Olathe, KS; and Charles Anderson (Laurie) of Edina, MN; as well as seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
