BURNET, Texas - William Benson Carr, 71, passed away on May 2, 2022.

A Graveside Service is planned for 1:00 p.m., May 11, 2022 at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX with military honors performed by the U.S. Coast Guard.

William was born on May 7, 1950 to J. Benson and Bernice Baldes Carr in Albany, New York. He attended Bethlehem Central High School in Delmar, New York and received a Bachelor's of Science at Excelcior College. He then proudly served his country with the U.S. Navy for 6 years where he served as a Navy Seal. Upon his honorable discharge from the Navy, he then joined the U.S. Coast Guard where he served his country for another 4 years. He was honorably awarded the U.S. Coast Guard Medal for extraordinary heroism.

William worked for Corning Glass in Ithaca, New York, Borgwarner Chemical, and then BP as an Automation Engineer.

He loved cars, Civil War History, and was known by his family as a gourmet cook. His greatest joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Bernice Barbara Schalk, and his brother, Jonathan Frederick Carr.

Mr. Carr is survived by his wife, Philomena Walters Carr; children, Benjamin Lee Carr and his wife Tricia Hegener Carr, Bernadette Marie Carr Perez-Cantu and her husband, Ricardo Perez-Cantu, Nicole Mary Carr McKenzie and her husband, Andrew McKenzie; grandchildren, Peyton Carr and Caleb Carr; nieces, Bernice Barbara Spichiger and Rebecca Behringer.
