DR. LINDA M. BIGBY June 3, 1950 - June, 30 2017 Dr. Linda M. Bigby, passed away on June 30, 2017 in Columbia, Missouri. Her body succumbed to a neurodegenerative disease, though her spirit did not. A Celebration of Linda's Life will be held at Lee's Summit Christian Church, 800 NE Tudor Rd., Lee's Summit, MO on July 15, 2017. Visitation begins at 2 p.m. and the Celebration Services will begin at 4 p.m. Linda was an amazing woman who touched many, many, lives. She was passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and her students. She had a way of making people feel special and worked her entire life in education. She served as the Director of Special Services in Lee's Summit School District until retiring in 2000. She also was an Emeritus Professor of education at UCM until retiring in 2011. She served as a member of many associations and organization throughout her lifetime from which she received numerous awards and honors. Linda was a kind hearted soul who never met a stranger. She showed tenacity, perseverance, and wisdom when handling life's challenges. She enjoyed community activities and spending time with friends and family. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends as she left this life way too soon. Please remember her with the joy that you knew her. Linda was preceded in death by her parents William Edison Sturgeon and Martha Francis White; sister, Frances Sue Kitchen and brother, Jerry William Sturgeon. Left to cherish her memory her daughter and son-in- law, Della and Joseph Luaders of Columbia and son, Kevin Bigby and significant other Shelby Bondick of Lee's Summit, and many friends and colleagues.
