Ed was born in Beverly, Kentucky on April 24, 1945, a son of the late Clara (Bowens) & Edgar Ray Asher.
Growing up, Ed enjoyed ginseng gathering and squirrel hunting and was a member of his local 4H club. He spent time helping out his parents at their country grocery store in Beverly and eventually graduated from Red Bird High School. Ed then went on to proudly serve in the US Army. Following his years of service, he worked at Uniroyal Goodrich in Woodburn for 41 years. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, cutting firewood, auctions, and collecting knives and hatchets.
Ed was a hardworking, soft-spoken, and God-loving man. He was always willing to lend a hand when needed and cared deeply for his family. Ed found many fond moments in his time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family truly meant everything to him.
Ed was preceded in death by his daughter, Amanda Layman; grandson, Darian Asher, & siblings, Margaret Lawson, Willa Ulbrick, Gwendolyn Smith, Ralph Asher, & Winston Asher.
Viewing is Friday, May 13, 2022, from 4-7 PM at Dooley Funeral Home, 5761 State Route 500, Payne, OH 45880.
Service is Saturday, May 14, 2022, at 10:30 AM with viewing from 9:30-10:15 AM at Payne Church of the Nazarene, 509 Orchard St., Payne, OH 45880.
He will be laid to rest at Wiltsie Cemetery.
