Retired detective George J. Damos, DSN 1584, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 8, 2022. George had a long and distinguished career with the St. Louis County Police Department as both a patrol officer and a detective.

Both George and his older brother Peter both followed their father Colonel James P. Damos into the field of law enforcement.

Their father was the former Chief James P. Damos, DSN 144, who served as Chief of Police for the University City Police Department for 28 years, retiring in 1989.

George's older brother Peter Damos, DSN 1435, started his career with the Saint Louis County Police Department in 1975 and worked with the department until 1982. Peter went on to serve with the United States Secret Service as a Special Agent. Both sons, like their father before them, served with distinction.
George is survived by his brother Peter Damos (Susan), his niece Carol Damos Hill, nephew Michael Damos and six grand-nieces and nephews.
