Mr. Beavo was a devoted father to four children, Joseph (Kay) Beavo of Seattle, WA, Katherine (Allen) Bryan of Longwood, Susan (Wallace) Stalnaker of Longwood, and Joanne (Lawrence) Adams of Winter Park.
He has 11 grandchildren, Allison, Scott, Katie, Andy, Marie, Rob, Jennifer, Julie, Tyson, Travis, and Chelsey. His seven great grandchildren include Olivia, Ryan, Kaylee, Newton, Lucy, Anna and Aidan.
He is also survived by his cousin, Dorothy Cook.
Joe graduated from the University of Northern Iowa, where he was a member of Blue Key, and received his Masters degree from the University of Iowa.
A lifelong educator, he began his career as a schoolteacher in Iowa, where his aspirations led him to become Superintendent of Public Schools for Jones County.
In 1957 he moved to Fort Myers, Florida where he continued his educational career as Principal of North Fort Myers High School and Allen Park Elementary School. Both schools became models for southwest Florida.
Joe was an avid fisherman and golfer. After retirement he and Edna moved to central Florida to be near family.
