Mr. Burdick was an organist at Chapel of the Chimes for 17 years until he retired in 1963. He came to Oakland in 1945 as organist-director of Piedmont Community Church and Chimes. He also had been an organist for California Masonic Lodge #1 of San Francisco and was active in the San Francisco Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. Not only did Mr. Burdick play for funeral services and weddings, but Chapel of the Chimes broadcast organ concerts on radio station KRE several times weekly He was a veteran of World War I and II and had attained the rank of Captain in the U.S. Army.
