She was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Mary Rita (Fetters) Stineman. She was married to the love of her life, Bernard Murphy, on Aug. 13, 1960, in Chicago, Ill.
Mrs. Murphy was a graduate of St. Scholastic High School in Chicago. She lived in Houston, Texas for many years. During that time, Mrs. Murphy, a trained hospice volunteer, had a Bed and Breakfast out of her home for cancer patients. This mission brought her great joy. Mrs. Murphy was also involved in The Special Olympics for many years.
Mrs. Murphy is survived by two daughters, Kelli (Daniel) Cordis, Cocoa Beach, Fla., and Erin Murphy, Kentland; one son, Patrick Murphy, Cocoa Beach, Fla.; four grandchildren; one sister, Susan (LeRoy) Endre, Prospect Heights, Ill.; and one brother, Lawrence (Maggie) Stineman, Waleska, Ga.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Murphy; son, Christopher Murphy; and sister, Janet (John) Valtierra.
Services will be held on Thursday, May 19 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kentland as follows: Visitation from noon - 1 p.m. CST; funeral mass at 1 p.m. CST; interment following funeral mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery; and lunch at St. Joseph Catholic Church school basement. Father Richard Weisenberger will be officiating.
Memorials may be given in her name to Special Olympics.
