Vera A. Kirk, 91, of Chillicothe, Ohio, passed away peacefully at her home following a short illness on May 19, 2022.
She was born November 29, 1930, in Ross County, to the late Alva and Daisy DeLong Strausbaugh. On July 4, 1954, she married Ernest R. Kirk who preceded her in death on November 23, 2014.
Surviving are their son, Ernest Ricki Kirk and daughter, Lisa Kirk, both of Chillicothe. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Harold (Opal) Strausbaugh, Clarence "Tuck" (Mildred) Strausbaugh and Ruby (Don) Garrison along with a special nephew Rev. John Wiseman.
She graduated from Adelphi-Harrison High School in 1949 where she was Miss Adelphi-Harrison and then went on to be chosen Miss Ross County in 1949. She attended OU- Chillicothe and studied Education. Vera was employed by the Mead Corporation until she retired in 1996. She was a member of the PTA and a long time Poll Worker in Harrison Township as was her father before her. Vera loved and owned Quarter horses and enjoyed Trail Riding with her husband Ernie and family.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 24, 2022 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME. Burial will follow in Charleston Church of the Brethren Cemetery. WARE FUNERAL HOME
