MADILL -- Services for Marvin Wheeler, 97, will be at 2 p.m. today at Watts Memorial Chapel with Larry Holder officiating. Interment will be at Woodberry Forest Cemetery.
Wheeler was born June 18, 1902, in Marshall County, to Jefferson and Claudia Truitt Wheeler. He died May 6, 2000, in Madill.
A lifetime resident of Marshall County, he was a teacher and county superintendent for 20 years. He was a member of United Methodist Church, a charter member of Madill Lions Club and active in Boy Scouts. He and Ben Pauline Hatfield were married June 25, 1927, at Tishomingo. She preceded him in death on May 4, 1995.
Survivors include a son, Don, Fort Worth, Texas; a daughter, Julia N. Coor, South Carolina; a brother, Ernest, New Orleans, La.; eight grandchildren, two of whom he reared, Charles Wheeler, Pottsboro, and Marie Brandt, California; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
