Joanne "Sissy" T. Walker, 74, entered into rest with family by her side on Monday, July 15, 2013, at home. She was born September 22, 1938, in York, to the late C. Elizabeth (Dorsey) Walker McCullough and Herbert Walker. Joanne was a graduate of William Penn. She was a faithful and active member of the Jehovah Witnesses, joyfully spreading the good news to all she met. One of her greatest joys was to be with her family, especially her great-grandchildren, whom she affectionately called "her babies". Joanne is survived by a daughter, Michele Walker, grandchildren, Jarrett Walker, Jaira Dorm, and Bereim Dorm, and great-grandchildren, Za'Havi, Ashani, Kwelia, and Brycen, all of York; sisters, Delores Matthews of Willingboro, N.J., and Sandra Christie of York; a special aunt, Shirley Young of York; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by daughter, Bernadean Marie Walker. A celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, August 3, 2013, at the Prospect Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses, 701 Dallas St., York 17403 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, family respectfully requests donations be sent to Gladfelter Funeral Home, Inc., 822 E. Market St., York, PA 17403 to help defray funeral costs.
