CHARLES F. SCHWAB
   Charles F. Schwab, 78, former Wilkes-Barre photographer, died Saturday morning at his home in Bradford after an illness. A native of Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late F. J. Schwab, who for years conducted a cigar store at 63 South Main Street.
   He had a photographic studio in this city before he went to Bradford to follow the same profession. He gave up his studio, however, to enter the oil business.
   Surviving are his brother, John, 82 Academy Street; widow, and two sons, Frederick, Houston; Richard, San Antonio; daughter, Mrs. Louise Rehac, Buffalo.
   Funeral and burial will be held in Bradford.

C. F. Schwab, Former Mayor, Is Dead at 78
   Charles F Schwab, 78, of 32 Sanford St., who nerved as mayor of Bradford from Jan. 1, 1932, to Sept. 10, 1932, when he was forced to resign because of ill health, died Saturday morning at 4 o'clock at Bradford Hospital where he had been a patient mince Friday, Oct. 10.
   He had been in ill health for the past three months but his condition had not become serious until Friday. Mr Schwab was born in Wilkes-Barre on April 1, 1869, and attended the Wilkes-Barre schools. He became interested In photography and in time become a top ranking authority in the profession.
   He came to Bradford in 1865 and continued his interest in photography and in 1900 was highly honored when he received a medal for the best work in certain types of photography in the United States.
   It wasn't long after he arrived in Bradford that the oil business began taking up much of his interest, and he soon became a successful oil producer in the Bradford field.
   It was in 1931 that Mr. Schwab was induced to run for the office of mayor of Bradford. He won the election, succeeding the late Spencer M. DeGoller, Bradford's three-time mayor. However, ill health overtook Mr. Schwab and he was forced to step down in September of 1932. His term was completed by the late Thomas P. Thompson Jr.
   Well known throughout the oil fields of Bradford and the nation, Mr. Schwab was a member of the First Methodist Church and also of the Bradford Club.
   Surviving him are his wife, Mrs. Vinnie Schwab, two sons, Frederick P. Schwab of San Antonio, Tex., and Richard C. Schwab of Houston, Tex., and one daughter, Mrs. Louise Schwab Rehac of Buffalo; six grandchildren, and one brother, John N. Schwab of Wilkes-Barre.
   Funeral services will he held this afternoon at 3 o'clock at the home in Sanford St., with the Rev. Clement Yinger, pastor of the First Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be made in a Buffalo cemetery.
   Funeral arrangements are in charge of the Koch-Chatley Memorial Chapel.
