She worked for Riegel Paper in Milford, Hunterdon Co., New Jersey in her younger days.

Amy met Charles Norman Shoudt at Nate's Dance Hall in Upper Black Eddy, where her future father-in-law was calling the squares. They married in Haycock Twp., Bucks Co. in 1934. It was a good marriage that lasted for 43 years.

She resided in Easton, Northampton Co., Pennsylvania; Upper Black Eddy; and Riegelsville, Bucks Co. early in her married life. She later settled in Alpha, Warren Co. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Alpha.

She was the mother of six children. She was also the beloved grandmother of 19 grandchildren and the great-grandmother of 23 as of late 2007. Her grandson, Gary Charles Shoudt, died in 1974.

Amy worked for Pettinelli Sport and Music Store in Alpha, and she also sold Avon makeup and Sarah Coventry jewellery. She loved to crochet.

According to a niece, Amy's funeral was one of the most beautiful that she had ever attended. Even though it was a rainy day, the love and care that Amy had bestowed on her family over her long life was recognized and celebrated with her favorite prayers and songs. She had requested that her son Bill sing "Ave Maria" at the church and "You Are My Sunshine" at her grave. Everyone joined in the latter.

Amy was one of those women whom local communities cannot do without. She left the world a much kinder place.
