Daniel was the youngest known son of William and Eliza (Walker) Hammitt. Daniel was married on February 18, 1873 in Hamilton County, Ohio, to Eunice Law. Eunice was born in 1854 in Ohio, and she was a daughter of William and Tryphena (Strong) Law. Eunice's parents were buried in Miami Cemetery. Eunice (Law) Hammitt died in 1936 in Butler County, Ohio, and her Ohio Death Certificate indicated that she was buried in Liberty, Indiana. The 1915 Ohio Death Certificate for Daniel Hammitt indicated that he was buried in Miami Cemetery on April 2, 1915. However, Daniel's exact burial location in Miami Cemetery has not been found in surviving Miami Cemetery records.
