George Leon Albright age 93 passed from this life into the presence of Christ on Sunday, May 22. Mr. Albright was born on May 17, 1929, in Sardis City, Alabama, but was a native of Gadsden, He was a resident of the Alabama State Veteran's Home in Pell City, Alabama. He was a 1948 graduate of Gadsden High School, he joined the U.S. Air Force shortly after graduation. He served four years of active duty, attaining the rank of Tech Sergeant. Albright was a Korean War veteran serving the majority of his tour at Clark Air Force Base in Luzon, Philippines specializing in Communications and Intelligence. After his tour in the U.S. Air Force, Albright was employed in the dairy processing industry with Barber Pure Milk Company for 37 years.

Mr. Albright was married to the late Mary Ruth Wallace Albright of Gadsden. They were married for 57 years prior to Mrs. Albright's untimely death. Together, they had three children. The Albright's had 5 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

A great joy of Albright's life was coaching youth sports for more than 25 years. He was not only a great coach,reflected by his incredible success, but a wonderful mentor to the young people who had the privilege of playing on his teams. Through the years, many young men have reflected about how Albright's character, integrity, and encouragement impacted their lives.

Albright was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ruth Wallace Albright; his son, Brian Keith Albright; his parents, George Emory Albright and Bessie Ellis Albright; his brothers, Charles Albright, Jerry Albright, and (Kyle) Marlon Albright; and his sister, Mary Helen Albright Mayo.

His service was May 26, at Collier-Butler Funeral Home in Gadsden, Alabama. Mr. Albright was interred at Crestwood Cemetery in East Gadsden.
