Acheson, Edwin Robert, age 96, passed away Monday, May 23, 2022, after a lengthy illness. He was born in Richmond Heights, son of Ernest and Lucy (nee Brashear) Acheson. Ed was a US Amy Veteran, serving in World War II and the Korean War, attaining the rank of 2nd Lieutenant, and was honorably discharged in 1952. Ed graduated from the Rolla School of Mines with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, after which he had a long and successful career in management with Southwestern Bell.

His family was everything to him and he spent as much time as possible with them. Scouting, going to the beach, climbing mountains, camping, canoeing, soccer games, softball games, band concerts were among the activities that kept him busy as he watched his children and grandchildren grow up.

Ed was active in Boy Scout Troop 631 (St. Mark Presbyterian Church). He helped to form Troop 631 in 1966, and remained active for more than 50 years. In 2016, Troop 631 created the Ed Acheson Award of Merit to be given annually to a Troop 631 scouter who has given outstanding service beyond what is expected. In 1996, the Greater St. Louis Area Council recognized Ed with the Silver Beaver award for distinguished service to youth.

He is the beloved husband of Karen (nee Kieffer) Acheson; dear father of Cheryl (Mike) Sisk, Lynn (Dale) Frazier, and Edwin Acheson, Jr.; loving grandfather of Melissa Hatton, Kristin (Don) Holstein, Edwin Acheson, III, Daniel Blake, Michael Blake, and Stephen (Melissa) Blake; and 10 great-grandchildren. Preceding Edwin in death were his parents; his first wife Betty Lee (nee Crumley) Acheson; and sister Alice Acheson.
