George H. Ahlers, 71, of 1810 E. Capitol Ave. died at 7:50 p.m. Monday at Memorial Hospital.
A retired farmer, Mr. Ahlers was born in Menard County, the son of Herman (Harmon) and Anna Schone Ahlers and had been a Springfield resident for 21 years.
Surviving are his wife, Ruby; three daughters, Mrs. Thomas McEvers and Mrs. Anna Mae Berndt, both of Pawnee, and Mrs. Mary Sims of Springfield; four sons, Raymond of Ashland, Robert Lee of Panorama City, Calif., George at home and David of Lincoln; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Ellinger and Kunz Funeral Home. Rev. D. J. Finley will officiate and burial will be in Pleasant Plains Cemetery.
