Dale Lynn Brister on September 3, 1946, in Brookhaven, Mississippi to Gertrude and Samuel Brister. She was one of four children, sister Al-Laurice,, brothers William and Michael.
Being the daughter of a heavy equipment operator, her family moved around the country many times. One of these many moved brought her family to Tehachapi while her father operated a motor grader during the construction of highway 58.
This is also where she met her lifelong love Basilio "Butch" Herrera while attending Tehachapi High School. They were married on March 20, 1965. They were married on March 20, 1965, and had a long and happy marriage of 56 years. Together they raised their three children, Desirea, Suzanne, and Jeremy. She supports each of them in the various activities they pursued. From Desi's FFA events showing the many lambs she raised, Suzi's drill team performances, and Jeremy's many years in football.
She entered beauty school in the late 70's and ended up being one of the most sought-after beauticians in Tehachapi for over thirty-plus years. Somehow, she was able to still pursue her love for the art of painting and doing arts and crafts or spending time in the garden planting her favorite flowers.
