April 23, 1932 ~ March 11, 2022 (age 89)
Dorothy B. "Miss Dot", Spoonamore, 89 of Mebane went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 11, 2022.
She was the daughter of Herbert Francis Bond and Ruth Annie Matthews Bond, both deceased. A Native of Springfield, MA, she made her home in Mebane for the past 26 years. Prior to that, she made her home in Graham, NC.
Miss Dot came to Alamance County in 1963 to help her husband start "Ernie's Chicken Villa" (KFC) in Burlington. Together they owned and operated the business and it grew to three stores, two in Burlington and in 1968 they opened a location in Graham. After the KFC days, she worked for Alphabet (MCR) Corportation in Mebane for 26 years. She is best known for the friendly person that greeted you when you entered the Mebane Walmart where she worked for 14 years as a people greeter.
Miss Dot was a faithful member of Baptist Temple in Burlington and was a member of the Shirley Keck Sunday School Class for 45 years. In the early years of the church, her joy was keeping the infant nursery.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ernest Spoonamore, a brother, Robert Bond, two sisters, Marion Grace "Chickie" Bond and Shirley Monachina, all of Massachusetts.
Surviving are one son, Wayne Edwall (Lisa) of Graham; three grandchildren, Sara Norris, Christopher Edwall and MJ Edwall; three step-grandchildren, Lisa S. Ellis, Stacey Spoonamore, Tara Spoonamore; and two great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Miss Dot's life will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Baptist Temple with Dr. Don Carter and Rev. Wayne Edwall officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 to 1:30 pm prior to the service at the church and all other times at the home of Wayne Edwall in Graham. Private interment will be held at a later date at Graham Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family gratefully asks that donations be made in her memory to Mercy and Grace Ministries, 260, D West Davis Street Burlington, NC 27215 or to Fellowship Riders Alamance County Motorcycle Ministry 615 West Harden Street, Graham, NC 27253.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the Staff of Peake Resources in Graham for their watchful care over Miss Dot during the past two months. She brought joy to those who diligently worked with her.
