Lorene was born on April 15, 1931 in Dodge, Nebraska to James and Mary (Chudelmelka) Vcelik, one of nine children. She met Clyde Baird while he was stationed with Offutt Air Force Base and they were married shortly thereafter on July 3, 1952. Clyde and Lorene had just celebrated 58 years of marriage. Lorene was a homemaker, mother and dedicated military wife. After Clyde retired in 1969 they made their home in Colorado Springs. She enjoyed many happy days traveling and camping while her health was good. Clyde and Lorene were actively involved in Family Camper and RV club, which provided them wonderful friends and great memories. Lorene is survived by her husband, Clyde, two sons, Thomas of Colorado Springs and Brian (Theresa) of Hillsboro, Oregon, two sisters, Wilma Sindelar in Nebraska and Betty Brytowski in Minnesota, plus many extended family. A Memorial Service is planned for 1:00 p.m., Monday, August 2, 2010, Swan-Law Funeral Home Cascade Chapel. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.
