It is believed she was cremated and her ashes were scattered at her parents grave site.Katherine Elaine "Kandy" Dobbs, 57, of Republic, MO, formerly of McDonough, GA, went home to be with her Lord peacefully on October 28, 2020. She was born April 15, 1963 to Denny and Marilyn Dobbs in Atlanta, Georgia. Kandy was the second of four children in the home.
Kandy completed 13 years of special education. She worked at Worktec in various jobs for 24 years and won several awards. On her 50th birthday, friends and family gathered to celebrate her life and many accomplishments. In attendance was the Mayor of McDonough that made a proclamation stating on April 15, 2013, was to be Katherine Elaine Dobbs Day which was displayed on a marquee in the county square. Kandy was a member of the McDonough church of Christ for 30 years and served as a Sunday school teacher's assistant for the 2 and 3-year-old children's class. Kandy loved children and children loved Kandy. She touched the lives of many children over several generations. Kandy participated in Special Olympics, holding the record in the broad jump. She loved Elvis, Donny and Marie and Disney movies. She also had a special bond with animals. She had a sweet way about her and made everyone feel special.
She is preceded in death by both her paternal and maternal grandparents.
Kandy is survived by her parents, sisters; Denise Medforth and husband Thomas and Sherri Santos, brother; Richard Dobbs, Jr and wife Carrie, 8 nieces and nephews and 5 great nephews as well as extended family and countless friends.
A Visitation is scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2020 from 10:00am – 11:00 am at Meadors Funeral Home, Republic, MO. Funeral services to follow at 11:00 a.m. with burial in Patterson Cemetery. A celebration of Life is scheduled in McDonough, GA for Saturday, November 7, 2020 at the McDonough church of Christ with visitation at 10:00 am and service at 11:00am.
