"The LaFayette Sun" - April 16, 1902:

Mrs. Elizabeth Garlington, consort of Mr. T. C. Garlington, and daughter of William Edmondson, died October 27th, 1901. Was married to Mr. T. C. Garlington, December 10th, 1835, and united him in the M. E. Church, South, August 1837; had 13 children, put them in the church of God's direction; raised eleven, lost three, two grown sons, one killed by accident. Each left evidence that they were witnesses for God. Their mother was willing to go and be with them and to "know as they were known" in the world of love. Her remains lie in the cemetery at Midway church to await the great day of the Lord.

Farewell, Dear, but not forever,
There will be a glorious dawn;
We shall meet to part no more,
Though my darling's form lies sleeping
In the cold and silent tomb
Thou shalt have a glorious wakening,
When the blessed Lord shall come.
