Ann C. Kleman, age 92, of Manitowoc, died Monday afternoon, May 30, 2022, with family by her side, at Sylvan Crossing of Maritime Gardens, Manitowoc.
Ann was born on October 8, 1929, in Manitowoc, a daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Kruzicki) Check, Sr. She graduated from Lincoln High School with the Class of 1947. On October 14, 1950, she married Robert P. Kleman at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on October 26, 1990. Ann was employed for many years as a benefits specialist at Imperial Eastman and also worked at Younkers. She sang in the choir at St. Anne Catholic Church for over 50 years, was also a member of the Christian Mothers at St. Anne; was a longtime member of the Manitowoc Elks Club and the Red Hatters of Manitowoc County. Ann was able to harvest many fruits and vegetables on the Wagon Wheel Road Hobby Farm for cooking, baking and canning; she was a professional seamstress and enjoyed many summers at Sand Bay Beach Resort. She loved the time she spent with her kids, grandkids and great grandkids and was always a gracious and willing host for holidays and family events.
Survivors include her children: Mary Koch of Manitowoc, Jeanne and Dale Holmer of Sheboygan, and Rob and Lynn Kleman of Oshkosh; son-in-law: Steve (Cathy) Hoopman of Oshkosh; nine grandchildren: Rachel Jeanquart (special friend, Keith Counard), Kristin Koch, Ryan (Jordan) Holmer, Miranda (Spencer) Langhart, Robbie (Brittany) Kleman, Katie Kleman, Kyle Hoopman, Brady Hoopman, Olivia Hoopman, Eric (Kristen) Hoopman and Megan (Peter) Lang; and seven great grandchildren: Nolan, JJ, Brenden and Michaela Jeanquart, Charli Holmer and Lucy and Sam Hoopman. She is further survived by two sisters: Marlene Christensen and Carol (Joseph) Van Ells; sister-in-law: Joyce Check; and many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was also preceded in death by a daughter: Laurie Ann Hoopman; son-in-law: Jon Koch; brothers: Frank Check, Jr. and Stan (Leatrice) Check; brothers-in-law: Jack Konop and Donald Christensen; sisters-in-law: Lucille (George) Gosz, Elaine (Reinhart) Kubsch and Violet (Joseph) Brockhoff and special friend: Lester Shimek.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, June 3, 2022, at St. Anne Catholic Church, 126 S Packer Dr., Francis Creek. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Christian Raj with burial to follow in Knollwood Memorial Gardens, Highway 310, Manitowoc.
The family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Friday morning from 9:30 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. There will be no Thursday evening visitation.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in Ann's name.
