Gary Duane Tebbets of Fort Scott, Kansas, died Tuesday, January 15, 2008, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas.

He was born April 2, 1948, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Dean and Bernice (Belks) Tebbets.

He was graduated from Kansas City High School, received three bachelor degrees in vocal music, piano and choral education from the University of Missouri at Kansas City and a master's degree in music composition from Pittsburg State University.

He moved from Kansas City to Fort Scott in 1991.

On May 29, 1999, he was married to Anna Marie Feagins in Fort Scott, Kansas.

He was a member of Community Christian Church.

He was music director and pianist for First Christian Church, immediate past director of Fort Scott Community Choir, pianist for Fort Scott Melodrama Theatre, and provided the music for Fort Scott Chamber Homes for the Holiday Tour. He played various Sunday services at Community Christian Church and Community of Christ Church as well as for many weddings and funerals. He also gave private voice and piano lessons, and he was well known as the driver of Dolly the Trolley.

He was the current professor of choral music at Allen County Community College. He taught choral music at Fort Scott Community College for nine years and music at Jayhawk Linn schools for three years prior to ACCC.

He is survived by his wife of the home; his mother, Bernice Tebbets, Kansas City, KS; a son, Gary Jr., Sedalia, MO; a brother, Paul, and a sister, Tricia Weston and her husband, Paul, all of Kansas City, KS.

His father died earlier.

Funeral services in Community Christian Church. The Rev. Kevin Moyers, assisted by the Rev. Reed Hartford, Elder Joe Rei and Elder Robert Clark will officiate. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Fort Scott, Kansas.
