Ernest A. Hall, 88, Aitkin, died Jan. 1, 2008, at the Aicota Health Care Center in Aitkin. He was born on July 19, 1919, in St. Paul to Frank and Kathryn Hall. He attended grade and high school in St. Paul. While working for Unisys he took extension classes at the University of Minnesota. He joined the U.S. Army in 1941 and was discharged in 1943. He joined the Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1945. After his discharge from the service he was awarded the American Theater Medal and the Victory Medal. He married Lillian Groteon on Feb. 18, 1947, in Hudson, Wis. He retired after 26 years of service with Unisys. They purchased a cabin on Elm Island Lake in 1970 and moved into Aitkin in 1989. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church, the Aitkin American Legion Post 86, Moose Lodge 1060 and Unisys VIP Club.

Memorial services were held at Sorensen-Root-Thompson Fu-neral Home on Jan. 7, with Father Paul Fruth officiating. Edie Orazem was organist and Rick Perry was soloist. Military honors were provided by the Aitkin American Legion and the Aitkin VFW. Burial was in the St. Thomas Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Lillian; and nieces and nephews.
