Theta L. Johnson, 86, of Ottawa passed away Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, at the Ransom Memorial Hospital in Ottawa.

She was born April 18, 1921, in Pomona the daughter of Edgar and Olive (Nelson) Rice. She grew up and attended schools in Pomona.

On Sept. 5, 1939, she was united in marriage to Willard Johnson at Harrisonville, Mo. They shared more than 54 years of marriage before the death of her husband Dec. 30, 1993.

In 1943, they moved to a farm one mile east of Richter. She was a homemaker. They lived in the Richter area for 49 years before moving to Ottawa in July of 1993.

Theta enjoyed sewing, tailoring and gardening.

She is survived by two daughters, Bonita Keenan and her husband, Donald of Cherryvale, and Sharon Johnson of Ottawa; three grandchildren, Paul Keenan and his wife, Dawn of Trenton, Missouri, Shane Keenan and his wife, Kristin of Independence, and Kelly Jessip and her husband, Wayne of De Soto; seven great-grandchildren, Leslie Jessip, Ashlyn Gibson, Bryan Jessip, Braycee Keenan, Michael Keenan, Natosha Keenan and Casi Keenan; and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a sister, Velma Atchison.
