Agnes Mildred Gambino, 96, of Dupont passed away unexpectedly Sunday, June 12, 2022.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Edward Gambino.

Born and raised in Dupont, Agnes was the daughter of the late Edward and Mildred Jumper Powell. She graduated from Dupont High School and went on to work in the local garment industry until her retirement.

She was a devoted member of St. John's Primitive Methodist Church in Avoca where she enjoyed not only the sermons, but also the close community and music.

Agnes was preceded in death by her brother, William Powell.

Always in the driver's seat, she enjoyed taking her friends Alberta and Doris shopping and out to eat. She spent a lot of her free time reading, watching the Game Show Network, and visiting the Pittston Senior Center. Agnes enjoyed dinner with her family every evening and treasured her time spent with them on holidays, picnics and outings.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving son, Richard and wife, Teresa, Dupont; granddaughter, Judi Ciliberto and husband, Peter, Duryea; great-grandson, Jeremy Ciliberto and companion, Cassie Lavelle, Pittston; brother, Edward Powell and wife, Isabell, Jefferson Twp.; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Agnes (Nonny) will be remembered for her kind smile and warm heart. Her presence will be missed by all of those she touched.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday from Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea, with the Rev. Dale Pepper of St. John's Primitive Methodist Church, Avoca, officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday.
