She was born in Middleburg, Vance County, North Carolina on March 16, 1929, the eighth child of Robert Cooper Floyd and Mamie Mustian Floyd.
A retired registered nurse, Mrs. Harwood graduated from Park View Hospital School of Nursing, Rocky Mount, North Carolina in 1950 and completed her graduate work in obstetrics at Margaret Hague, Jersey City, New Jersey.
She was employed by the Jewish Community Center as a Geriatric Nursing Supervisor in Rockville, Maryland and the Sands Point Nursing Home, Sands Point, New York.
She was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church and the St. Joan of Arc Circle, Altamonte Springs, Florida.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, William A. Harwood; daughter, Susan B. Harwood, Winter Park, Florida; and son, William A. Harwood, Jr. and grandsons, William S. Harwood and Stephen T. Harwood, all of West Palm Beach, Florida.
