RICHARD "DICK" SPRINGER On May 28, 2022, we lost a very generous man who earned the respect of many, Richard Lynn Springer. He was a quiet and reserved person but if he befriended you, you were treated like family. He will be sorely missed by his wife, family and friends. Richard Springer was born in Klamath Falls, Oregon, on December 21, 1943 to Albert Richard Springer and Audrey Dalene Elder. He was the oldest of 3 siblings, Stephen Odell Springer, Mike John Wisecarver, and Garri Ellen Glodowski. He graduated from Bend High school and then was recruited into the Army in 1963. He served our country on active duty for 3 years and 5 years in the reserves. One of Dick's proud accomplishments was being admitted and graduating from University of Southern California with a Master's degree in Counseling in 1971. He worked at Riverside Community College as well as spent 28 years at Lassen Community College as an academic counselor. He was recognized as a student friendly faculty member. He was also well respected by his peers where he earned Emeritus distinction. Dick's most cherished life accomplishment was his family. Married to Georgia Ann Springer for 34 years; children Deborah Lynn Springer; Stephanie Anne Springer; Michelle Leigh (Charles Chatman) Fraley; Alison Marie (Michael) Somerville; Michael Joseph Menzie (Angie Gunter); and Amy Lynn (Brian) Langslet, grandchildren, Richard Ortega (33); Dallin Alden (25); Zoe Fraley (22); Ryli Fraley (16); Parker Somerville (19); Taylore Somerville (18); Dominic Menzie (16); Jacob Menzie (14); Wyatt Langslet (22); Rylie Langslet (16), and great grandchildren, Baylee Ortega (12); Gavin Ortega (9), and Daxton (1). Brother in law Hugh "Bud" Shaver, Dearest friend of 40 years Colonel John Shirley. Dick had a successful career, enjoyed his family and friends, and made the most of his retirement years with the love of USC football games and traveling. Services will be held on June 17, 2022, at 9:30, Brusie Funeral home 626 Broadway, Chico, CA 95928. In lieu of flowers, a contribution in his name can be made to the USC Office of Annual Giving or to any program that would support student efforts in achieving their educational goal.
