ANDERSON, Mo. — Mabel Eva Callaway, age 94, died at 9:37 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008, at St John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin, Mo., following an illness. Mrs. Callaway was born Jan. 1, 1914, in Garden City, Kan. Her parents were Charles Edward and Laura Ellen (Collier) Sherwood. She had lived in Anderson since 1943, moving from Mountain Home, Ark. She was a member of the Anderson Full Gospel Church. She was married to Thomas Edward Callaway on July 2, 1933, in Baxter County, Ark. He preceded her in death. Surviving are six daughters, Marie Fort (husband, George), Seneca, Mo., Alice Daniels (husband, Steve), Seneca, Fern Coleman, Carl Junction, Mo., Barbara Mason (husband, Ronald), Scott City, Mo., Hazel Buck (husband, Bill), Carl Junction, and Jeannie Hines (husband, Leroy), Anderson; her sister, Mildred Carpenter, Ellenwood, Kan.; 23 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband; she was preceded in death by two sons-in-law, Bert Coleman and Tommy Wallain; eight sisters; and one brother. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan 22, at the Anderson Full Gospel Church. Burial will be in Peace Valley Cemetery, Anderson. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21, at Ozark Funeral Home, Anderson. Arrangements are under the direction of Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, Kan.
