Jack R. Lane, age 83, of Norwalk died peacefully Monday afternoon, June 13, 2022 at Every Step Kavanagh House in Des Moines, Iowa.

Jack Ronald, the son and youngest child born to Virgil Marion and Hazel May (Simmons) Lane was born in Warren County in the family farmhouse west of Norwalk. He grew up with his siblings, Kenneth and Betty. Jack lived in Warren County his entire life. He graduated from Norwalk High School with the Class of 1956. Jack was a sports lover. He was the catcher for the baseball team and played on the Norwalk Men's Fast Pitch Softball City League. He held the Norwalk high school basketball record for the most points scored in a single game of 45 points from 1956-2019 before the 3-point shot was established.

He met his bride of 62 years, Madalene Carol Cameron, while in school and they were united in marriage on July 14th, 1957 at the United Methodist Church in Norwalk. To this union they had three children, Randy, Rusty, and Sandra. Jack worked at the local lumberyard, Bill's Skelly, and had his own milk route. He worked at AE Dairy for 2-½ years from 1962-1965. He started at Bob Brown Chevrolet in May, 1965 as Salesman then Truck Manager until December, 1998. Jack's hobbies included golf, woodworking and cribbage among other card games. He loved snowmobiling, boating, camping, and NASCAR.

Jack was a member of the Masonic Lodge #628, Warren County Shrine Club, Za-Ga-Zig Shrine, Norwalk Fire Department, Des Moines Scottish Rite Consistory, Iowa Shrine Bowl, Za-Ga-Zig Shrine Potentate 2005, as well as other various Shrine groups. He served on the Norwalk City Council for several years. Jack was preceded in death by his wife Madalene, parents, and siblings. He will lovingly be remembered by his children, Randy (Patti) of Cumming, Rusty (Roxy) of Newton, and Sandra (Tom) Jensen of Minneapolis, MN; 10 grandchildren, Jason (Amanda), Joshua (Brandy), Jeremy (Amanda Jo), Mitchell (Kendra), Monica (Travis), Allison, Kara (Chris), Jayme, Michael (Ann), and Cody; and 22 great grandchildren.

Visitation and Service will be held Thursday, June 16th at The Wright Place (340 Wright Road, Suite A-B Norwalk, Iowa). The family will greet guests from 11:30-1:00 with the service beginning at 1:15. Interment following at Sunset Memorial Gardens Fleur Drive, Des Moines, Iowa.
