He lived a long and colorful life. After serving his country in the air force during the Korean War, he worked as an insurance salesman and then as a working cowboy in the Book Cliffs near Green River. After retirement, he continued to work as the resident manager at a senior's high rise for the Housing Authority of Salt Lake City.
He battled alcoholism for may years; however, he was thirteen years sober at the time of his death.
He is survived by a daughter, Carla Dellose; three sons, Glenn Gary Rose, James Rose, and Ben Rose; an adopted daughter, Eileen Maloney; ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and his beloved friend and companion, Alice Crane.
