Daughter of a prominent West Coast businessman, Minnewa Bell became Elliott Roosevelt's fourth wife in 1951. In 1960, the couple divorced, and Bell became actively involved in her family's businesses. During her marriage Ms. Bell became close to her mother-in-law, Eleanor Roosevelt, and remained so for the rest of Mrs. Roosevelt's life.
