Esther was born January 21, 1938 the daughter of Alva and Pearl Lambert. After graduating from Fredonia High School in 1956 she worked for Fink Abstract until her marriage in January 1960 to Billie Friend, the man of her dreams and answer to her prayers. When Billie was drafted into the Army six months later she moved back with her parents until the birth of their first child, Deanna. After Deanna was six weeks old Esther sold Billie's car to afford to join him in Germany. After a couple of years in Germany and a memorable vacation trip to Austria, Italy, and Switzerland, they returned to the states and lived in Topeka where their sons Eric and Greg were born. In 1967 they moved to rural Fredonia where they lived and worked together in the farming operation. She continued to live in their farmhouse up until her death.
Survivors include her children, Greg (Jenni) Friend of Fredonia, Deanna (David) Fink of Fredonia.

Esther was preceded in death by her husband Billie, her parents Alva and Pearl Lambert, her sister Althea Baker, and son Eric.
Interment will follow in Weakley Cemetery near New Albany.
