Edward Bradley New Hartford
Edward Behen Bradley, wheelchair athlete, died June 9, 2012, at Faxton-St. Luke's Hospital. His parents were privileged to be present at his death. Passionate about wheelchair racing, Ed competed in and completed 15 Boilermaker races, 2 Niagara International Marathons for which he won the 1st place trophy in 2010, the Turning Stone Half Marathon and many local races, including Falling Leaves, Run To The Rescue, Honor America, The Violet Festival, the Copper Wire Run and others. He was proud to have ridden for Missing Children. Ed loved music from the time that he was very young. He attended the Crane Music Summer Camp at Potsdam College. He played the trumpet, drums and keyboard. As a student at New Hartford High School, under the direction of Mike DiMeo, he played the tympani in the marching band. Ed attended MVCC and was graduated from Niagara University with a BA in Communications in 1987. He has been employed at the Automobile Association (AAA) for the past three years. He took great pride in working for such a fine organization. He is survived by his parents, Dr. Edward and Mary Lyons Bradley; three sisters, Carney Hammon of Charleston, SC, Kathy (Joe) Sullivan, of Wyndmoore, PA, and Betsy (James) Alvord, of Scituate, MA; as well as seven nieces and nephews, Daniel Hammon, Katie, Alex, Charlie and Elizabeth Sullivan, and Willie and Ollie Alvord, and a great-niece, Savannah Hammon. Ed was predeceased by a niece, Isabel Bradley Alvord, in 1998. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John the Evangelist Church in New Hartford on August 25 at 10:30 a.m. The family will receive guests at the Sadaquada Golf Club, 4985 Henderson St. , Whitesboro, NY, immediately after the service. The family wishes to acknowledge the compassionate care provided by the staff at Faxton-St. Luke's ICU as well as his physicians.
