Mrs. Alice I. Morgan, 80, formerly of 6782 Route 91, Truxton, passed away on Friday, October 26, 2007 in the Cortland Regional Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, where she had been a resident since 2004.
She was born April 20, 1927 in Harford, PA, the daughter of the late Wise and Bessie Mitchell Bennett.
Alice attended the Truxton United Methodist Church and was a member of the Truxton Senior Citizens.
She retired, after more than 25 years of employment, from Smith Corona. She had also been previously employed at Preble Produce, where she worked for more than 15 years.
Surviving is her son, Sherman C. Morgan of Truxton; two daughters, Irene J. (Richard) Vastag of Syracuse and Sheila M. (David) VanDee of Truxton; three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Harold (Wanda) Bennett of Vero Beach, FL and Oscar (Thelma) Bennett of Syracuse; a sister, Beulah Alger of Norwich and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her husband of more than 50 years, Sherman A. Morgan predeceased her on July 21, 1998. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Elmwood Cemetery, Preble, with the Rev. Christine Eastwood officiating. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions in Mrs. Morgan's memory may be directed to the Cortland SPCA, 879 McLean Rd., Cortland, NY 13045.
