Martha Lorene Dickson age 93, passed away on June 25th, 2022, at her home in Lexington. Martha Lorene Newville was born to John Harold Newville and Edith Elizabeth Newville on November 8, 1928. At the age of 2, Martha's mother passed away at which time eldest sister Opal quit school to care for the children. Later, Lula Myrick stepped into the role and became a beloved mother for her and her siblings. The Newville's made their home east of Lexington in the Spring Hill area. Martha attended the Spring Hill School and graduated with the Bulldog Class of 1946. After high school, Martha went to a beauty college in Norman. She was working at Mabry's Beauty Shop when a young man came in from OU and sat in her chair for a haircut. She wound up marrying him and cutting his hair for many years to come. they celebrated 70 years of marriage just before Elson's passing. Elson and Martha were married on April 5, 1950, in Santa Fe, New Mexico. They made their way back to Oklahoma and settled in the Oklahoma City area where they were blessed with two girls. Elson built a beauty shop into their home for Martha to work out of and she kept lots of clients looking their best. The family made their way back to the Lexington area and settled in Asher. Martha was a proud wife, mother, and homemaker. She enjoyed gardening both vegetables and flowers, loved camping, and never hesitated to pitch in hauling wood or helping around the old home place. When her husband's sight began to fail, she stepped in and became his eyes. She got her Driver's license at 61 years old to chauffeur him around town. They built a barn home together on their property, she took the measurements and he cut the boards. Martha loved to travel and made it to some of her dream destinations like Hawaii, the British Virgin Islands, and London. She always brought back souvenirs and trinkets for her family; her granddaughters had the nicest wicker doll furniture you could find. She cherished her grandkids, great-grandkids, and great greats too! Lots of people called her grandma whether she was or not, and she had plenty of love to give to each and every one of them.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Harold Newville, Edith Elizabeth Newville, and Lula Newville. Her husband, Elson Dickson, and her siblings Orville Newville, Claude Newville, Opal Barnes, Frances Newville, Howard Newville, and Lela Wallace.

She is survived by her daughters Gloria Kemp of Lexington and Angela Morris of Asher, OK. Sister, Lillie Embry of Moore, and brother, Michael Lee Newville of Lexington, OK. Grandchildren, Lisa, Buffy, Steven, Larry, and Michelle, 10 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
