Arthur Glenn Andrews, Jr. died peacefully Saturday, February 26, 2022, at his farm outside Anniston, Alabama, following a long battle with congestive heart failure. It was truly one of the few things he ever did quietly! Glenn was born in New Orleans on October 19, 1939, to Arthur Glenn and Ethel Jackson Andrews. He moved to Anniston at an early age. Graduating from The Lawrenceville School in New Jersey, he then attended Washington and Lee University, Tulane University, and a host of other colleges here and abroad. After serving in the U.S. Air Force and living in Paris for two years, he returned to Anniston and joined the family outdoor advertising business. He left Andrews Advertising in 1983 to devote his time to training horses and dogs. He served for many years on the board of the Knox Concert Series, the board of the Cerebral Palsy Association, and was a member of Y's Men's Club. Glenn was known for his love of reciting poetry at gatherings ranging from formal affairs to farm parties. He combined his love of horses and literary performance through community service, as he dressed as the Headless Horseman and galloped his horse in pursuit of Ichabod Crane on Glenwood Terrace for Halloween, leaving children mystified by the scene. He also was a fine photographer who chronicled many local events. He loved his family, his friends, his horses, and his dogs and was looking forward to being reunited with those who had gone before him. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Houston Andrews Kilby. Survivors include his brother Frank Scott Andrews (Augusta) of Anniston; nephews George Rowan Kilby, Jr. of New York, Thomas Irby Kilby (Lisa) of Aspen, CO., Frank Scott Andrews, Jr (Katrina) of Anniston, Joseph Jackson Andrews (Sarah) of Nashville; niece Lisa Andrews Palmer (Ronnie) of Creola, AL.; and numerous great nieces and nephews. His family is forever grateful for the care Glenn received from Amedisys Home Health Care/Hospice and Joanne Andrews, and for the friends who kept him company over the past several years, including Goodwin Smith, Lee Ellis, April Mattox, and Fred Chapman. A memorial service and celebration of Glenn's life will be held at his beloved farm at a later date. Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
